Stone fruits

A balanced nutrition in order to obtain the best fruit content and sustainable growth

Basic Information

Peach, apricot, cherry, nectarine, plums and others are deciduous trees and members of the “stone fruits” family. They grow better in areas with cold winters but warm and dry summers, preferring deep, well drained soils, which are rich in organic matter with a neutral to slightly acidic pH. A balanced fertilization program should take into account all the nutrients the plants require and aim to optimize inputs, to increase the yield and improve quality; while at the same time protecting the environment, the soil fertility as well as the crop’s sustainability.

Important instructions for use: If several products are mixed while using our product, unforeseen reciprocal effects may occur. It is not possible to foresee all conditions that can occur in practice (e.g. temperature, kind of water, crop protection agents). Therefore, it is highly recommended to test the compatibility and the application of the intended products on a small scale first. We disclaim any responsibilities for damages which may ensue from interactions based on mixtures – especially – with other products, crop protection agents, plant protection products or fertilizers and/or from unusual conditions (temperature, kind of water, etc.). Detailed Description

The fertilization program should aim to apply the required nutrient quantities according to the needs of the crop at the different phenological stages. Nitrogen is needed in large quantities and should be available at all stages during the plant’s life cycle, but mainly during the vegetative growth. Potassium is also needed in high quantities, since it is a key element for the sugar production and for the tree’s water management during the summer.
Calcium is an essential nutrient for the stability of the fruit’s cell walls and must be available to the trees in large quantities, even at the very early stage of fruit setting. Iron, zinc, boron are very important microelements for the stone fruits, because they enhance photosynthesis and ensure good flowering, good pollination and fruit setting. The technique of "post-harvest fertilization", with forms of slow-release nitrogen is highly recommended as it promotes the fast and good growth of the next season.
Granular fertilization with Basacote® Starter or NovaTec® Premium. For fertigation we recommend our water-soluble fertilizers NovaTec® Solub and Hakaphos®. Products from the liquid fertilizer line Basfoliar® are useful for foliar application. As biostimulant we recommend Basfoliar® Avant Natur SL, Basfoliar® Amino Cu and Vitanica® Si.
